Locomotion 3/6/12/24 Hour Endurance Event
The Locomotion is a timed ultradistance run held at Camp Jordan Recreation Area in East Ridge, TN, organized by Chattanooga Track Club. The course is a flat, USATF-certified 2.00-mile loop.
Participants may choose among the following timed options:
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hour
- 6 Hour
- 3 Hour
Awards include plaques for milestone distances: 100 miles in 24 hours, 50 miles in 12 hours, and 50K in 6 hours. The top three male and top three female finishers in each event receive awards. There are special recognitions for completing the target distances within the time limits and awards for breaking male or female 6, 12, or 24-hour records. All participants receive a finishers medal.
Final results are based on total laps completed within the time limit. Race officials may evaluate participants for safety and can remove a runner from the race if necessary. Crew support is allowed each lap from a designated grass area near the start line. Pacers are not permitted unless they are registered participants.
The event is concession-style with snacks and hot food on site; runners are responsible for their own food and hydration. This is a cup-free event so participants must bring personal hydration systems. Littering on course may lead to disqualification.
Packet pickup is offered the day before in the race village gravel lot and on race morning at the race village. Tent and RV camping are available through park registration and may require additional fees. Restrooms and a portable toilet are provided near the course.
The Locomotion is part of the Chattanooga Ultra Championship series, which requires participation in three designated races to qualify for cumulative mileage awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
