Lochmara Half Marathon
The Lochmara Half Marathon is a boutique running event held on Saturday 7 November 2026. Competitors travel by Beachcomber catamaran from Picton to Anakiwa where the race starts at Anakiwa wharf and finishes in front of the restaurant at Lochmara Lodge. Onboard sign-in includes race number, a few energy snacks and briefings by race staff.
Entry is limited to 200 competitors. Entries open online on 1 June 2026 at 8am and close on 1 November 2026 or when capacity is reached. The 2026 entry fee is $125 and includes the boat rides to and from the event. Payment is by bank transfer only; entries are confirmed once payment is received.
The event is timed and has an overall cutoff of 3 hours 30 minutes. Walkers may use a slightly shorter route that omits a 3 km loop and are eligible for spot and fun prizes. Age limits are over 15 years and under 120 years. There are three water stations on course at Anakiwa, Mistletoe Bay (approximately 1 hour 40 minutes from the start) and the finish; competitors are advised to carry water in hot conditions.
Supporters may travel on the boat for a fee per adult or child and must book in advance. Prize giving is at Lochmara Lodge and the winner has a cash prize. A portion of entry fees supports a neuroendocrine cancer charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
