Lochmara Half Marathon
The Lochmara Half Marathon is the 12th edition held on Saturday 7 November 2026. The event includes a one hour cruise south from Picton to Anakiwa on Beachcomber catamarans. Competitors are signed in on board, receive a race number and some energy nibbles, and may take part in a light pre-race activity that involves guessing the sequence of "track stars" along the route. The field is limited to about 200 competitors and the winner receives a $250 cash prize.
The finish is at Lochmara Lodge. Finishers receive a welcome and a small gift, with prize giving held after the race. The finish area includes the option of a swim and a barbecued lunch available at the participant's cost. Competitors travel back to Picton on the second Beachcomber trip.
The event offers a full half marathon distance and a slightly shorter walk course. The podium recognises top finishers in the running categories, while walkers remain eligible for spot and fun prizes. The overall time cut off for the event is 3 hours 30 mins. A portion of entry fees supports people in New Zealand living with neuroendocrine cancers, the organisers' chosen charity for 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
