Live Wildly Open Water Team Challenge
The Live Wildly Open Water Team Challenge takes place in Saint Pete Beach, Florida, and is presented by Live Wildly in celebration of World Swim Day. The event supports the Florida Wildlife Corridor, described as an 18‑million‑acre expanse stretching from the Panhandle to the Everglades.
The main team event is a relay covering 4 Miles on a 1/4‑mile open water loop. Teams consist of 3 to 8 swimmers. Rules specify that each swimmer completes a single loop before tagging the next teammate, no swimmer may swim consecutive loops, and no swimmer may exceed three total loops.
There are individual options alongside the team relay. A Solo Challenge follows the same loop format with an exit and shoreline loop between each swim. A Solo Swim What You Can option allows swimming up to two miles. The Vernaci Challenge combines running and swimming in the following sequence: a 5k run, a 1/4‑mile swim, a 1‑mile run, a 1/4‑mile swim, and a final 1‑mile run.
