13th Annual Little Ironman: 5K, Fun Walk, and Mud Run
This tribute running and family event takes place on August 23, 2026 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Jonesborough, TN. Events include an in-person 5K, a 1 mile Fun Walk, a 1 mile Mud Run with obstacles, and a Virtual 5K option. Packet pick up and race day registration are located at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Parking is at Sulphur Springs School with shuttle service between parking and the event site. Concessions will be available.
Distances offered:
- 3.1 miles Little Ironman 5K
- 1 mile Little Ironman Fun Walk
- 1 mile Little Ironman Mud Run
- 3.1 miles Little Ironman Virtual 5K
The Mud Run includes obstacles such as a creek run, tires, balance beam, climbing walls, mud crawl, quintuple steps, monkey bars, and a large mud pit. The Mud Run is open to participants ages 3 and up and will run heats organized by age group with multiple runs allowed. The 5K uses digital timing provided by Trojan Timing. The Virtual 5K does not use timing for awards and includes mailed bibs and shirts.
Registration fees are $25 for in-person events and $30 for the Virtual 5K. Pre-registration by August 20 guarantees a 2026 event shirt; a limited supply of shirts will be available on race day. The first 150 overall registrants across the 5K, Fun Walk, and Mud Run will receive a swag bag. Awards are planned for top male and female overall, top male and female 70 plus, and top three in each age group. Age groups include 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus.
Rinse down station, changing tent, towels, and bags for dirty clothes will be provided. One hundred percent of event proceeds support the P.H.I.L. Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps families facing financial difficulties due to a health crisis. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
