Bluegrass Half Marathon & Relays
The Bluegrass Half Marathon is a road event in Johnson City, TN held on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The event uses a USATF certified course that begins on Commerce Street beside Wild Wing Cafe and finishes in the parking lot of the Pavilion at Founder’s Park.
Race formats include:
- Half marathon
- 2-4 person relay
- Virtual option
Relay exchange locations are Local Motion (Alabama St), Southside Elementary School (exchange for the two-person relay), and the Tomy Thai parking lot at State of Franklin and Lyle St. There are multiple on-course beverage stations; three additional water stations are located at the Burley Parking Lot (Legion St & State of Franklin), the corner of Walnut St & Earnest St, and Market St & Gold Star Blvd (across from Krispy Kreme). Each exchange area also offers beverages.
Awards include trophies for overall and masters categories plus age-group awards; medals are presented to all finishers. Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the course. A volunteer program supports the race; organizers request a large volunteer workforce for race week. The event offers a virtual option with race swag distribution by packet pickup, local pickup, or mailing, and maintains a no-refund policy with alternatives such as transfers, virtual entry, or deferral.
