Little Duck 50k

Little Duck 50k is a trail running event in Windham, Maine, held at the East Windham Conservation Area and using the Purple, Red, and Blue trails. The event includes a multi-loop ultra distance and a single-loop shorter distance.

  • 50k : five loops; each loop is described as roughly 10k (about 6.5 miles).
  • 10k : one loop.

The course uses an out-and-back loop pattern that begins at the EWCA parking area on the Purple trail. Runners are directed to stay right on the Red and Blue trails during each loop. One aid station is located at the Lowell Preserve parking lot and runners return to the EWCA parking lot between loops. Organizers plan two aid stations per loop; stations will include snacks, water, and electrolyte drinks.

Organizers report roughly 900 feet of elevation gain per loop. Volunteers will keep track of runners’ progress. The event size is planned to be small for the first year (about 10 to 50 participants). The event maintains a “no runner left behind” policy and staff remain until the final finisher crosses the line. Participants who stop after completing some loops receive official results for the distance they completed (for example, three completed loops are recorded as a 30k). Runners receive a cotton shirt upon completion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
