Event Overview
The Lithgow Ridgy-Didge Trail Run Festival is a trail running event at Hassans Walls Reserve. This is the fifth edition of the race, first held in 2022. The event hub and start/finish location is the Lithgow Pony Club on Sheedy's Gully Road, Willowbank Avenue, Lithgow.
Distances
The event offers several race distances:
- 5 km (solo for ages 12+, 7-11 year olds can run if accompanied by an adult)
- 10 km (ages 12+)
- 22 km (ages 15+)
- 30 km (ages 18+)
- 42.2 km Marathon (ages 18+)
- 50 km Ultra Marathon (ages 18+)
- 1.6 km Kids Race (for those under 12, with free registration until March 26th)
The 50km Ultra course has approximately 2400m of elevation gain, matching the UTA50, and the 22km matches the elevation of the UTA22. Courses use dirt roads, 4WD trails, walking trails, and mountain bike single tracks, passing lookouts with views of the Lithgow, Hartley, Megalong, and Kanimbla Valleys.
Event Features
Tailwind Nutrition Australia supplies on-course fuel and operates a recovery area with free recovery mix, fruit, and water. There will be live music from The Wild Lilys and a pop-up bar from Zig Zag Brewery. Camping is available on-site at the Pony Club for a fee.
All finishers receive a medal. There are prizes for overall male and female winners in each distance, plus sponsor prizes and lucky draws. Merchandise including buffs, hoodies, and performance shirts will be available.
Logistics
Check-in and registration is available on Friday evening and Saturday morning at the Lithgow Pony Club. A mandatory gear check is required for most distances. Drop bag service is available for the 50km, Marathon, and 30km races to two checkpoints. On-site catering includes a coffee cart and food options.
