9th Annual Lions Club Vision 5k
The Lions Club Vision 5k is an annual community event held in Statesville, North Carolina. The event is organized by the West Iredell Lions Club, an organization that operates under the motto "We Serve." The proceedings from the event are used to support various charitable initiatives. These include providing eye examinations and eyeglasses for residents in Iredell County, as well as funding specialized activities for the visually impaired, such as a coastal fishing tournament and a summer camp located on Lake Norman.
The event features multiple participation options:
- 5k (3.1 miles) running race
- 1 Mile Vision Walk
- Virtual Runner (5k distance)
The race and walk take place at 2012 Simonton Rd. Participants in the in-person categories receive a shirt as part of their registration. The event is open to participants of all ages, and individuals are welcome to walk, jog, or run their chosen distance. In addition to local vision services, the funds raised contribute to broader humanitarian efforts, including disaster relief within the United States and international aid projects.
