Event overview
The Light Up the Nite 5K Fun Run/Walk scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2025 in Hiawassee, Georgia (1311 Music Hall Road, Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds) has been cancelled for 2025. Organizers indicated an intent to hold the event again in 2026. The event was described as open to runners and walkers and was to take place along the shores of Lake Chatuge.
Course, entries and awards
The course follows areas around Lake Chatuge at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds and includes rolling hills on both paved and offroad terrain. Participants who registered before October 31, 2025 were to receive a holiday race tee shirt and finisher medal; tee shirt sizes could not be guaranteed after October 31, 2025. Extra shirts were ordered and were to be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Awards planned included honorary finisher awards for the first male and female, grand masters (50 and over) and child finishers (age 14 and under), plus a holiday attire award for adult and child. Age-category awards were listed for male and female in the following groups: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70 and over.
