Event Overview
The Light the Way 5K is an evening athletic event held at Cherokee Veterans Park in Canton, Georgia. This inaugural edition features races that take place at twilight as the sun sets. The event includes two primary distances:
- 5 km
- 1 mile
The 5 km race is a chip-timed event on a course measured for USATF certification. The 1 mile fun run is not chip-timed and is intended for families and casual participants. Registration is open to the public, and participants who register by April 1 are guaranteed an event t-shirt in their preferred size. Online and in-person registration options are available up until the start of the races.
Course and Amenities
The event is staged at The Buzz Recreation Center within Cherokee Veterans Park. The 5K course is designed for runners of various experience levels, and awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers. Age group awards are also provided in five-year increments, ranging from participants 10 and under to those 71 and older.
Packet pick-up is available the day before the race and on the afternoon of the event. All proceeds from the race support the Anna Crawford Children's Center, which provides services for children and families affected by abuse and violence in the local community.
