Lichfield 10K & Fun Run
The event in Beacon Park, Lichfield, comprises a certified, chip timed 10 km race and a separate family Fun Run held entirely within the park. The 10k is licenced by UKA and run on a measured course under UKA rules; only bone conduction headphones are permitted for the 10k.
Distances
- 10 km race on a certified measured course
- 2 km Fun Run within Beacon Park
The 10k course follows rural lanes and is hilly, with an initial wide, flat kilometre to allow runners to spread out, a sequence of five hills near Chorley village, and a fast downhill return to Beacon Park. The Fun Run is a well marshalled 2 km circuit inside the park; children under nine must be accompanied by an adult who also enters.
Race services include chip timing, texted results, escort vehicles and motorcycles, pacers at 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 minutes, and comprehensive medical cover provided on course and at the start and finish. Water is available at start, halfway and finish points and each competitor receives a banana. Cash prizes are offered for top finishers and course records.
The event uses environmental measures such as wooden medals and recycled plastic T shirts available to buy, and recycles plastic waste. Free finish and halfway photos are provided. Profits support the local running club and local charities. Spectators are concentrated at the park and at the halfway point in Chorley; parking and local cafes are available nearby.
