Lichfield 10K and Family Fun Run
The event takes place at Beacon Park in Lichfield and comprises a certified 10 km road race and a 2 km family Fun Run within the park. The 10 km is run under UKA rules, is a measured course and uses chip timing with results sent by text. Bone conductor headphones only are permitted for the 10 km. The race has a minimum age of 18 years.
The 10 km route uses closed, scenic country lanes and includes a wide, flat opening kilometre followed by rural lanes with a series of five hills and a fast downhill into Beacon Park. Support on course includes an escort car and motorcycles, pacers at several target times, friendly marshals, and medical cover provided by St John Ambulance. Water is available at start, halfway and finish, and each competitor receives a banana. Cash prizes are offered for the first three men and women and for course records. Wooden medals are included; T-shirts made from recycled plastic are available to purchase and all plastic waste is recycled. Free finish and halfway photos are provided.
The Fun Run is a well marshalled, safe 2 km route entirely within Beacon Park with its own start and finish arch and a timing clock. It is open to all ages, but children under nine must be accompanied by an adult who also enters. Profits support Lichfield Running Club and local charities.
