Lethbridge 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb
The event takes place on October 4, 2026 at the Melcor Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta. Participants complete the ascent and descent of 110 stories, a distance presented as equivalent to the height of the World Trade Centre towers before 9/11. The activity is described as physically demanding and is intended to honour those lost in the line of duty and the fallen members of Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services.
The climb supports fundraising for local charities. Participants are encouraged to seek pledges to raise money for A New Dawn Foundation and the Lethbridge Firefighters Charities Association, and donations are also accepted directly. Entry fee for the event is listed as CA$66.49. Registrations received before September 16, 2026 qualify for a free T shirt and the first 75 registrants receive a shaker cup.
Logistics and safety notes provided include assignment of heats in 30 minute increments as registrations are received, use of timing chips to count laps and provide an accurate time while noting the event is not a race, and a requirement that all participants sign a waiver prior to starting. Package pick up is scheduled at Lethbridge Supplements and Vitamins (1406 3 Ave S, #2) on October 2, 2026; participants unable to attend must check in and sign the waiver at Melcor Centre before starting.
Event guidance includes warming up, arriving hydrated, keeping single file to the right in stairwells to allow passing, taking breaks off the stairs, wearing suitable footwear, and noting that turnout or tactical gear is not permitted while a limited number of SCBA units may be available.
