Moonlight Run
The Moonlight Run is an annual road race hosted by the Prairie Runners Race Association in Lethbridge. This 39th edition is recognized as Southern Alberta’s largest road race, offering a unique evening running experience through the city and river valley.
Participants can select from two available distances:
- 10 km: a distance designated for runners only.
- 6 km: a category open to both runners and walkers.
The course begins at CASA and descends into the river valley. Both routes travel south along Indian Battle Road. The 6 km course follows an out-and-back format, while the 10 km course includes an additional out-and-back section past the Helen Schuler Nature Centre before returning uphill to the finish.
Registration for the event is capped at 2500 participants. While strollers are permitted at the back of the starting group, dogs are not allowed on either course. In an effort to reduce environmental impact, the organizers encourage participants to use their own reusable water bottles or cups.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in both distances. Additionally, medals are presented to the top five participants in each age category. A dedicated school challenge also recognizes the educational institution with the highest level of participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
