Event Overview
The Leith Harbour Free 5/10km is a community running event held in Dunedin that utilizes the Te Aka Ōtākou shared path. The event offers two standard distances for participants:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The event features two distinct courses that may be used depending on the specific date. Course 1 begins and ends at the intersection of Magnet Street and Neptune Street. The 5 km turnaround is marked by a long white ribbon between two red fence poles, while the 10 km turnaround is located opposite a new carpark area.
Course 2 starts and finishes near Kitchener Street at Watercooled Sports. On this route, the 5 km turnaround is situated at the entrance to the Vauxhall Yacht Club carpark. For those completing the 10 km distance, the turnaround point is located at the first tree following two log benches.
Both distances on Course 2 share the same start and finish locations, with the 5 km participants turning back at the 2.5 km mark. The paths used for these events are paved and accessible, making the courses friendly for participants using wheelchairs or prams. Registration and bib collection take place on-site at the designated start area prior to the commencement of the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
