About the race
The Emerson’s Dunedin Marathon takes place on Sunday 13 September 2026 around the Dunedin peninsula and harbour. The event offers multiple race options that follow certified courses and include both running and recreational walking distances.
Event distances:
- Full Marathon 42.2 km
- Half Marathon run
- Half Marathon recreational walk
- 10 km run
- 10 km recreational walk
- 5 km Fun Run/Walk for two age categories
Entry periods and pricing are published for early bird, standard and late registration. Online entries close at 4 pm on Saturday 12 September 2026 and there will be no entries on race day. Late entries may be possible at race pack pickup and may incur an additional fee. Merchandise orders included with registration close at midnight on Sunday 30 August.
Volunteer marshals are required to help direct participants; volunteers must be aged 18 years or over. The event programme includes the ASB George Street Mile on Saturday 12 September, featuring mile races for kids, social runners, university entrants and championship races for Athletics New Zealand affiliated clubs.
