Left Bank Triathlon : Fremantle Triathlon Club
The Left Bank Triathlon is organised by Fremantle Triathlon Club at John Tonkin Reserve and Riverside Road, East Fremantle, alongside the Swan River. The event offers three race formats with defined swim, bike and run distances:
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Novice: 300 m swim, 10 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Aqua Bike: 750 m swim, 20 km bike
The swim takes place in the sheltered Swan River; the Novice swim is a point to point course run with the tide and the Sprint swim is an out-and-back along the shoreline. The bike is held on closed roads as a 2 or 4 lap circuit on Riverside and Preston Point Road, with each lap approximately 4.75 km. The run follows Riverside Road with an out-and-back section on Jerrat Drive, each lap being 2.5 km.
Medals are awarded by gender in Junior (14-19), Adult (20-49) and Masters (50+) age groups; categories may be combined if fewer than five entrants. Minimum ages are 12 for Novice and 14 for Sprint, with age taken as at 31 December 2025. Entry fees are listed separately for TWA members and non-members for Sprint/Aqua Bike and Novice distances.
On-course facilities include barbecue areas, a children’s playground, a foreshore café and toilets. The Aquabike forms part of the WA Triathlon State Series and the race scores double points for the Fremantle Club Championships. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
