Event overview
The Left Bank Triathlon is organised by Fremantle Triathlon Club and takes place on 23 November 2025 at John Tonkin Reserve and Riverside Road, East Fremantle. The event runs alongside the Swan River and counts for double points in the Fremantle Club Championships. A 10% discount applies for entries to both Left Bank and Coogee Beach Triathlon.
Distances and course
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Novice: 300 m swim, 10 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Aqua bike: 750 m swim, 20 km bike
The swim takes place in the Swan River; the Novice swim is a point-to-point with the tide and the Sprint swim is an out-and-back along the John Tonkin Reserve shoreline. The bike is a 2- or 4-lap course on closed Riverside and Preston Point Road; each lap is 4.75 km. The run follows Riverside Road with an out-and-back on Jerrat Drive; each lap is 2.5 km. Transition is on the grass at John Tonkin Reserve. Facilities at the venue include BBQs, a children’s playground, a foreshore café and toilets.
Entry, categories and rules
Entry fees: Sprint and Aqua Bike are $70 (TWA member) and $83 (non-member). Novice is $55 (TWA member) and $60 (non-member). All categories are open to male and female competitors. Age is taken from 31 December 2025. Minimum age requirements state a competitor must be 12 on 31 December 2024 for Novice and 14 on 31 December 2024 for Sprint. Categories may be combined if fewer than five entrants.
Key race rules include wearing the provided swim cap, helmets worn and fastened for the bike, no cycling in transition, no support crews in transition or swim, no iPods on bike or run, and bare torsos are not permitted on the bike or run.
