Rodent Wriggle 2026
Norfolk & Suffolk LDWA organise the third Rodent Wriggle, a waymarked event based at Needham Market Community Centre, School Street, Needham Market, IP6 8BB. The event offers three route options:
- 13.5 mile - branches off the main route at 7 miles.
- 23 mile - branches off the main route at 12.5 miles.
- 31.5 mile (50k) - the longest route passes 10 historic churches.
The routes follow undulating, scenic paths in the Mid Suffolk countryside along the upper reaches of the River Rat. The 13.5 and 23 mile routes rejoin the main route to finish. Checkpoints are provided: the 13.5 mile route has 2 checkpoints, the 23 mile route has 3, and the 31.5 mile route has 4. Checkpoint opening and closing times must be adhered to; late arrivals at certain checkpoints may be directed onto a shorter route.
The entry fee covers drinks, start refreshments, snacks at checkpoints and a light meal at the finish. Vegetarian options are provided and some gluten-free and vegan choices will be available; participants with specific dietary needs may supply their own food for checkpoint delivery. The event operates a scan and go system.
Participants must download the route description (in a waterproof cover) and bring a personal mug. Recommended maps are OS Explorer 211 or Landranger 155. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are allowed on leads but are not permitted inside halls except assistance dogs. Retirement must be done at a checkpoint with notification to a marshal; return transport is provided only from checkpoints. All finishers receive a certificate.
Entries are limited to 165, with fees of £16 for LDWA members and £26 for non-members. There are no day entries, entries are not transferable, and substitutions are not permitted. Route description and GPX will be available on the N&S LDWA website shortly before the event. Cancellation and refund follow the organisers' stated policy.
