Event Overview
The Great Barrow Challenge takes place at the Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds. This multi-day event spans 10 consecutive days, allowing participants to choose their preferred distance each day. The competition is open to individuals aged 18 and over.
Distances
Participants can select from various distances on each of the 10 days:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
Course and Logistics
The event features a variety of different routes across the 10-day period. These include locations such as Denham Flats, Windmill, Kirtling, Gallops, Dalham Kiln, Golding Hills, Chevington Chase, Mill Wind, Clover, and Hargrave. Some routes are structured as 10 km out-and-back courses. The specific routes are subject to change.
The Race HQ, also referred to as Base Camp, is positioned at the start and lap point of the courses. This central location hosts a water and aid station for all runners. The event operates on a cupless basis, requiring participants to bring their own bottles or containers for refilling at the station.
Participant Information
Entry fees include parking at the venue. Runners receive a medal at the conclusion of each day's race. Options for participation include full entry for the entire 10-day duration with either bespoke medals or a lucky dip medal selection. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
