The Last Friday of the Month 5k is a monthly club race organised by volunteers from Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club. The course is two laps around Hyde Park with the start and finish at the Boathouse on the northern side of the Serpentine lake. The distance is 5 km (3.1 miles). The minimum age for entry is 11 years. The race is held under UK Athletics rules, England Athletics licence number 29177, and Certificate of Course Accuracy number 16/201. There is a cut-off time of 35 minutes; after this the course will not be marshalled and no results will be recorded. For safety, competitors must be able to hear marshals and are asked not to run while wearing headphones.
Practical information
Entries are accepted online only; Royal Parks rules prevent on-the-day entries. Entry fees are £7.00 for members registered with England Athletics and £9.00 for unaffiliated runners. The club’s refund policy only allows refunds in exceptional circumstances at the committee’s discretion. There are no changing or shower facilities; participants should arrive in running kit. Public toilets are available near the Bandstand, about 500 m from the start, card payment only (20p). No water is provided by the race; refreshments can be purchased nearby. Personal belongings may be left near the start at the owner’s risk; labelled waterproof bags are recommended. Race results are published on the club website and include name, club, time and age category. A league championship uses age-graded results, with the best six performances counting.
