The event is a ten mile road race on a single loop in a rural area around Rosewell, run mainly on B and C class roads and unclassified routes. The route starts west of Rosewell village, rises to Gourlaw Farm, drops to the bottom of Roslin Glen at about two miles, includes a steep 400 metre climb, then eases toward the four mile mark in Auchendinny. There is a climb between miles five and six, a small hump near mile seven, and the final section is generally downhill back into Rosewell.
Entry is limited to 400 runners. No entries are accepted on race day; entries close on 28 February 2026. Early-bird entry fees until 31 December 2025 are £16 for runners registered with Scottish Athletics and £18 for unregistered runners. Fees from 1 January 2026 are £20 and £22. Entry fees are non-refundable. If the event is postponed, paid entries will be held for the revised date; entrants unable to attend that date may apply for a refund. Team prizes are restricted to club teams registered with Scottish Athletics.
Race numbers will be available for collection from Registration at Ferguson Park, Rosewell. Under the event conditions, entries from walkers, wheelchair athletes and runners with baby joggers cannot be accepted. Participants are advised to ensure they are medically fit to complete a long-distance road race and to consider weather-related risks.
