Event Details
The LASAA Mug Run – Altadena Forever Run is part of the Mug Run series organized by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Athletic Association (LASAA). The event offers three race distances: a 1K Family Run, a 5K, and a 10K. All distances start and finish at Mariposa Junction on Mariposa Street in Altadena.
Background and Purpose
The Mug Run series began in 1993. Originally a small event for law enforcement, it now welcomes the public, with participation growing to over 300 runners. The series aims to foster health, fitness, and positive engagement between law enforcement and the community. This specific event is hosted by the Altadena Sheriff's Station and is dedicated to commemorating the two-year anniversary of the Altadena Eaton Fire. It is presented as a symbol of community resilience and recovery.
Course Information
The 5K route extends into lower foothill neighborhoods east of Lake Avenue. The 10K follows the 5K course, offering views of the San Gabriel Mountains before passing through the historic Mariposa business district and neighborhoods. The course passes Charles White Park. The 1K Family Run/Walk starts at El Molino Avenue, goes past the Altadena Library, and loops back to Mariposa Street. For the 1K, children 10 and under participate for free.
