Runway Run 5K and 1K - Laredo International Airport
The event stages a 5K and a 1K on the runway area at the Laredo International Airport. The venue is the Old Airport Terminal, Signature Flight Support Building, 4805 Maher Ave. The event is not accessible from the main terminal.
Entry fees and categories are published for early, regular, and event day registration. Fees differ by distance and by status for city employees and first responders with approved ID. Entry fees are nonrefundable; registrations may be transferred to another participant.
Timing and awards: the 5K is chip timed. Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and in age group divisions for male and female participants (14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+), plus an other abilities category. The first 500 registered participants receive a shirt, a finisher's medal, and a timing bib.
Race rules include no strollers on the runway, no skateboards, rollerblades, bikes, or pets, and no selfie sticks on the runway. Waivers must be signed to participate. Bibs must be affixed to the front center chest and not bent. Participants must stay on the course; anyone deviating will be removed. Participants not finishing within one hour will be collected and returned to the finish area so runway operations can resume.
Packet pick up is available the evening before at the Old Airport Terminal and on race day. Free parking is provided at El Metro Park and Ride on Hillside Rd. and Thomas Ave. A designated spectator zone and post-event snacks and drinks inside the Signature Flight Support Building are provided.
