Langdale Horseshoe

Langdale Horseshoe is a fell race starting from Old Dungeon Ghyll in Great Langdale. It covers AL 21.1 km / 1450 m ascent (12.5 miles / 4600 ft). The course is rough and rugged, with rocky, slippery ground and several pathless sections, making navigation challenging in October’s often claggy weather.

It’s part of the Lakeland Classics Trophy and limited to 550 entrants; pre-entry only. Entry fees: FRA members £13.50, non-members £16.50. The event follows FRA safety rules and restricts GPS use.

Parking near Langdale valley head. There’s a cash prize if the records are broken. Expect good views and a tough, satisfying challenge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
