Event Overview
The Land O'Burns 10k Road Race is a running event organized by Ayr Seaforth Athletic Club. Held in Ayr, the event operates under a Scottish Athletics permit and follows UK Athletics Rules. The race uses a licensed course distance that has been accurately measured and certified.
Course Details
The event features a single distance:
- 10 km
The route follows an "out and back" format that was redesigned in 2024. This course is predominately traffic-free and utilizes a section of the old Butlins railway line. Specifically, the path incorporates the Dunure road tunnel. The terrain is relatively flat with some gentle inclines and descents.
Participation and Regulations
The minimum age for participants is 15 years old on the day of the race. Registration and race number collection take place at the Seafield Pavilion at the Old Racecourse in Ayr. Because the event follows Scottish Athletics rules, the use of headphones during the race is prohibited. Timing services are provided via electronic chips.
Sustainability and Prizes
To reduce environmental impact and keep entry fees low, the organizers do not provide medals or t-shirts. Water stations along the course and at the finish line use paper cups instead of single-use plastic bottles. Prizes are awarded to the first three overall male and female finishers, as well as winners in age group categories ranging from 15-19 to 60+.
