Lamplighter Night Ultra

Lamplighter 20 Night Trail Run (20–21 June 2026)

The Lamplighter 20 is a 20 mile night trail run starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall. The event runs from sundown to sunrise on 20/21 June 2026 along a circular route that visits triangulation pillars and other checkpoint locations. There will be multiple checkpoint locations with refreshments, water, fizzy pop and snacks, including one indoor checkpoint. Each entrant receives a tracker and a GPX file and master map to assist navigation. Entrants collect numbers about an hour before last light and then have 6.5 hours to return to Goathland Village Hall. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal; there are additional mementos for the first male and first female finishers. Entrants are limited to 40 and must be at least 18 years old. Entry options and fees listed are Solo £35.00 and Pair £70.00. Mandatory kit must be carried and signed for at registration; required items include a map of the North Yorkshire Moors, compass and whistle, head-torch plus spare, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproof jacket/bottoms, charged mobile phone with the race director number, battery pack, at least 500 ml fluid, at least 60 g emergency food, and a cup for drinks at checkpoint locations. Parking at the village hall is limited to marshals; there is parking elsewhere in the village.

Lamplighter 40 Night Ultra (20–21 June 2026)

The Lamplighter 40 is an all-night trail ultra of approximately 40 miles, starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall on 20/21 June 2026. The circular route crosses good tracks, open moorland and forestry and visits triangulation pillars, cairns, crosses and other checkpoint locations. There will be multiple checkpoint locations with snacks, water and fizzy pop, and one indoor checkpoint that will serve pizza plus hot and cold drinks. Each entrant receives a tracker and a GPX file and master map to assist navigation. The event is run from sundown to sunrise; the total time is circa 12 hours. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and the first male and first female finishers receive mementos. Entrants are limited to 40 and must be at least 18 years old. Entry options and fees listed are Solo £50.00 and Pair £95.00. The same mandatory kit list applies as for the 20 mile event, including map, compass, head-torch and spare, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproofs, charged mobile phone and battery pack, fluid, emergency food and a cup for checkpoint drinks.
