Lakeside Laps for Brain Injury Awareness 2026
Lakeside Laps for Brain Injury Awareness is a fundraising event hosted by the Brain Injury Association of Waterloo-Wellington (BIAWW) in association with Run Waterloo. The event takes place at Columbia Lake in Waterloo, Ontario, and features scenic routes around the water.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 8 km run (consisting of two loops)
- 4 km run (consisting of one loop)
- 4 km walk (untimed)
- 200 m fun run for children aged 7 and under
The event provides a finisher medal to all participants who complete their distance. Children aged 12 and under are eligible for discounted entry fees on the 4 km and 8 km events. Strollers and their occupants are permitted on the course at no extra cost, provided they are accompanied by a registered participant. For safety reasons, only service dogs are allowed on the event course.
Post-race activities include food, refreshments, musical entertainment, and pledge prizes. Proceeds from the event support BIAWW programs such as support groups, peer mentoring, and mental health initiatives for individuals and families affected by acquired brain injuries. Optional event t-shirts are available for purchase during the registration process. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
