Lakeshore CAP 0.5K : Race for the Rest of Us
The Lakeshore CAP 0.5K is a short, tongue-in-cheek community running event in Manitowoc that starts and finishes at PetSkull Brewing. The course covers 546.8 yards (1,640 feet) and loops around a small city block. The event is presented as family friendly and includes activities aimed at all ages.
Organizers describe the event as a lighthearted competition that encourages relaxed preparation. Participants are encouraged to enjoy fun elements of the event atmosphere rather than serious training. Pacing support is provided by volunteers described as athletes with exceptional abilities.
Each participant receives a swag bag that includes a smug oval magnet, a one-of-a-kind event t-shirt, and a participation medal. Packet pick-up occurs on race day prior to the event and is handled by event volunteers.
The day includes themed rest stations along the course, food and beer at the venue, live music, raffles, games, an auction for a first place trophy, and a range of activities such as temporary tattoos, hair tinsel, photo opportunities, and yard games. First aid may be available from volunteers with varying levels of qualification. Proceeds benefit Lakeshore CAP, a local nonprofit serving individuals and families in the community for 60 years.
