Lakeland Trails at Ullswater
This event stages trail running on the eastern shore of Ullswater with the venue at Jenkin's Field in Glenridding. Runners may travel to the far side of the lake by steamer to start, and there are two contingency routes if boats cannot sail. The alternative 14k route includes a climb to Boredale Hause.
Courses are well marked and marshalled and include scenic trails with short sections of tarmac, rocky and rooty ground, and some road crossings where runners should take care. There are no water stations on course so competitors must carry their own water and cup. Medics and Patterdale Mountain Rescue will be present.
Distances
- 10k shorter distance, age 16 or over, time limit 2.5 hours.
- 14k race and challenge options, age 18 or over, time limits vary.
Practical information includes compulsory kit checks before boarding the steamers; required items are a hat or Buff, gloves, a waterproof jacket, and long leggings or over-trousers. Race numbers are collected on the day and entries are not transferable. Parking is cash only in the official car park with a small fee; there is no park and ride on Sunday. Event village facilities include food and drink stalls, a merchandise area, spot prizes and prize giving, and free race photos available after the event.
