About the race
Lakeland Paws Dogs@Dodd, run in Dodd Wood near Bassenthwaite, presents a fully marked, chip-timed trail race in Season 4 of Lakeland Paws. Runners can choose between an 8K option with about 370 meters of ascent or a 5K route with around 210 meters of ascent. The course combines forest roads and trails and climbs to the summit of Dodd before contouring around, offering panoramic views across Bassenthwaite Lake to the Coledale Fells.
Most of the route is on wide trails, allowing two dogs per runner, though some narrow sections and a steep final descent demand careful pacing. Dogs may be run on harnesses; runners may also compete without dogs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
