Lake Tahoe Marathon weekend overview
The 30th Lake Tahoe Marathon weekend runs October 17-19, 2025 in Lake Tahoe, California and Nevada. The main Sunday Lake Tahoe Marathon is a point-to-point course that starts in Homewood and finishes on Lakeside Beach in South Lake Tahoe. Several races run along the west shore and include hills around Emerald Bay. The Emerald Bay Half begins at Inspiration Point and is described as 99% downhill.

Races, services and rules
Race programming spans Friday, Saturday and Sunday with multiple marathons and half marathons offered across the three days. Options include the Tahoe Triple (three marathons in three days covering the lake and two states), the 72-mile Midnight Express ultra (one lap around Lake Tahoe), relays, and boutique races on Friday and Saturday. Three half marathons are downhill courses.
The event is organized by a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit supporting youth teams, scholarships and community projects. Finishers receive medals and shirts; free race photos are included in the race fee. There is a 7-hour time limit for the marathon and an 8-hour limit for the earlier-starting marathon walk. The Kids Pumpkin Fun Runs on Sunday include a free pumpkin, hotdog, drink and personalized race bib. Maps and course signs display miles to go.
