55th Annual Lake Placid Classic
The Lake Placid Classic is a long-standing athletic event held in Lake Placid, New York. The 55th edition of this event features three distinct distances for participants to choose from:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K
- 5K
The event is organized as a not-for-profit initiative with the purpose of raising funds for local youth programming and community wellness. The race venue is located at the North Elba Horse Show Grounds, situated on Cascade Road. This location serves as both the starting and finishing point for the races, providing views of the surrounding high peaks and natural landscape.
The race routes for the Half Marathon and 10K include two moderate hills, with one located near the start and another toward the end of the course. The 5K option is available for both runners and walkers. Combined, the races expect to host over 750 participants.
The event organizers provide awards for the top three overall male and female finishers in all distances. For the Half Marathon and 10K, additional awards are presented to the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 19 and under to over 70.
Packet pick-up is scheduled at the showgrounds on the Friday before the race and on the morning of the event. On-site parking is available at the venue, though access is restricted during the start of the races for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
