7th Annual Lean30 Lake Norman Half Marathon Forest Run - Forest Run & 5K
The event is a multi‑distance road running weekend held at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC. Courses run on asphalt roads that wind and undulate beneath a green tree canopy, with the start and finish at the Lake Norman Picnic Ground inside the park. The weekend includes in-person and virtual options.
Race distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 5K Ruck (3.1 miles)
Ruck participants use weighted plates or packs; men wear 20 lb and women wear 10 lb, with checks at the start line. Virtual runners may choose any distance. Packet pick-up is available at Charlotte Running Company in Mooresville and at the Lake Norman State Park beach parking lot. Half marathoners must be able to finish within 3.5 hours due to traffic congestion. Both courses are entirely on asphalt roads; runners are required to run single file on public roads. Strollers start at the back of the 5K, and toddlers under 4 may walk with parents free of charge. No pets, firearms, or alcohol are permitted. A finisher medal, apparel items, cup, and decal are part of race swag; hoodie and 5K shirt sizes are guaranteed if registered by 2026-04-30. Awards are given to top overall and age group finishers for the half marathon and 5K. The event supports the Human Health Project and requests non-perishable food donations. No refunds under any circumstances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
