Lake Norman Running Events
The Novant Health Lake Norman event takes place in Cornelius, North Carolina, and serves as the final event of the 2026 Run Charlotte season. Held on a Sunday, the event offers two primary road race options that utilize the terrain around the peninsula and the lake area. Participants can select between two distances:
- 5 km (3.1 miles)
- 15 km (9.3 miles)
The 5 km course is designed with a limited number of turns, while the 15 km course extends further across the fingers of the peninsula. While strollers and baby joggers are permitted to start alongside the rest of the field, dogs are not allowed on the course for safety reasons. There is no bag check service available at the venue.
Every participant receives a long-sleeve Recover Brands shirt, with sizes guaranteed for those who register before September 6, 2026. After the races, an awards ceremony is held approximately 30 minutes after the first finisher arrives. Awards are presented to overall winners, masters winners, and the top finishers in various age group divisions ranging from 14 and under to 75 and older.
The event site includes medical services provided by Novant Health at the start and finish lines. Porta-potties are also located in the start and finish area. The races proceed in rain or shine, and registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Following the event, participants can access refreshments provided by Adams Beverage.
