Course and race operations
Courses run on single-track trails through pine forest and along the lake shore. The course on the west side is a loop; longer races add an out-and-back to the east side. The 50K has about 2,600 feet of elevation gain. The East Pavilion and Catfish Cove aid stations have scheduled closing times; there is a final cutoff for all distances.
Trekking poles are allowed. Dogs are permitted if leashed. Many participants walk or hike rather than run.
Registration, series and policies
Packet pickup is at the west side pavilion on race day. Day parking permits for Lake McMurtry must be obtained through the park. The event is part of the Outlaw Trail Series; completing all six series races in one calendar year earns an Oklahoma-shaped plaque regardless of distance. Military and child discounts are offered under stated conditions. The organizer issues race credit rather than refunds, with a sliding scale based on how far in advance the request is made.
