Lake McMurtry Run - Stillwater, OK
Lake McMurtry Run is a trail race held at the Lake McMurtry West Recreation Area in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The event offers multiple distances on single-track trails that wind through pine forest and along the lake shore. The course uses a west-side loop; longer races also include an out-and-back to the east side. The 50K course records about 2,600 feet of elevation gain.

Finishers in each event receive a unique buckle or medal. Other included items and services are complimentary race photos, fully stocked aid stations, post-race meals, and an entry T‑shirt; hoodies are available for purchase. Packet pickup opens at 6:00 am at the west side pavilion on race day. The East Pavilion aid station closes at 7:00 pm, Catfish Cove closes at 6:00 pm, and the overall cutoff for all distances is 4:00 pm.
Practical notes: day parking permits for Lake McMurtry must be purchased from lake management and displayed in the vehicle. A military discount (10%) and a child discount (one child 15 and under free with a parent entry, in-person only) are offered; organizers provide coupon codes on request. Volunteer shifts earn a T‑shirt and registration credit; one eight-hour shift gives 25% off a future race and four shifts equal a free race.
The race began in 1999 and has been directed by several organizations; the Outlaw group has directed the event since 2019. The start/finish is at the Lake McMurtry West Recreation Area; the event is not at the East Recreation Area.
Race rules and common policies: trekking poles are allowed; dogs are permitted only on leash; no littering or course stashing of supplies; runners who stop must notify the nearest aid station; accepting a ride removes a participant from the race. Transfers are handled as race credit on a sliding scale and refunds are not provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
