The Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned sprint triathlon held on the Trane Technologies Campus in Davidson, North Carolina on 09/13/2026. The race uses a 750 meter swim, a 12.7 mile bike loop, and a 5K run, all described below. The swim is a 750 meter rectangular course with an in-water start. The course begins at the lake front of the campus and finishes about 50 yards down the shore. Water temperatures are typically in the low 80s so wetsuits are rarely permitted. The swim is situated in a sheltered area of the lake and is usually very flat. Participants must wear swim caps that designate waves; swim caps are provided at packet pick up. Swim waves and start times are posted the week of the event.
The bike is a 12.7 mile loop beginning and ending on the Trane Technologies Campus. The route avoids downtown Davidson and Davidson College, and follows rural roads in far north Mecklenburg County. The course is moderately hilly with a couple of notable hills.
The run occurs entirely on the Trane Technologies Campus as an out and back course. The run is slightly hilly with many turns and limited shade, so temperatures affect how warm the course feels. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
