Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon
The Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event held at the Trane Technologies Campus in Davidson, North Carolina on September 13, 2026. The race follows standard sprint distances with separate swim, bike, and run segments.
The course distances are:
- 750 meter swim
- 12.7 mile bike
- 5K run
The swim uses an in water start on the lakefront at the Trane Technologies Campus. The rectangular swim course finishes about 50 yards downshore from the start and is located in a sheltered area of the lake where water is usually flat. Water temperature is historically in the low 80s so wetsuits are rarely permitted. Organizers provide swim caps at packet pickup to designate wave assignments.
The bike is a 12.7 mile loop that begins and ends on campus. The route avoids downtown Davidson and Davidson College and travels through rural roads in far north Mecklenburg County. The course is moderately hilly with a couple of larger hills.
The run takes place entirely on the Trane Technologies Campus on an out and back route. The run course has several turns and some small hills. Shade is limited on parts of the run so conditions can feel warm when air temperatures are high.
The event includes multiple competition categories, including Age Group, Novice, Relay Team, Aquabike, NCAA Draft Legal for NCAA teams only, and Club Collegiate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
