Jefferson Turkey Can Run

The 18th Annual Turkey Can Run is a 5K race held in Jefferson, Georgia. As a certified Peachtree Road Race qualifier, it represents the largest running event of its kind in Jackson County. The race serves a humanitarian purpose, with proceeds and donations directly benefiting the local community food bank, which provides assistance to families throughout the region.

The event features a certified course and follows an updated route established in 2024. Participants in the 5K include a wide range of runners, with the 2024 edition hosting over 1300 registered individuals. Registration requirements include an entry fee as well as the donation of 15 canned food items to support the mission of the food bank.

Logistics for the event are managed through early check-in and off-site parking. Runners who register in advance can pick up their race numbers and shirts at the church fellowship hall during the days leading up to the event. On the day of the race, parking is located at Jefferson High School, which is positioned within walking distance of the starting area.

The event concludes with an awards ceremony. For those who cannot stay for the presentation, awards are made available for pickup at the church office starting the following Monday. Bottled water is provided for participants both before and after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
