Turkey Can Run
The Turkey Can Run is the 18th annual Thanksgiving Day 5K held on Thursday, November 26, 2026. The race benefits the FBC Jefferson Food Bank, which assists hundreds of Jackson County families each year. In 2024 the event had over 1,300 registered runners and the organizer expects a larger field for 2026.
Registration is open to anyone. Entry requires a fee of $15 plus a donation of 15 canned food items. Race numbers and event shirts can be picked up in advance for registrants who complete registration by November 20; pickup is available Monday, November 23 to Wednesday, November 25 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the church fellowship hall. Canned goods may also be dropped off at that time. Race day registration is not available.
Participants should note parking is not available in the church lots, which will be used to provide distancing before the race. Participants may park at the Jefferson High School front parking lot at 575 Washington St, within walking distance of the church. Receptacles for canned food donations will be available at the high school lot. There will be no shuttle service. Bottled water will be provided before and after the race. Awards follow the race; awards not collected may be picked up at the church office at 76 Institute St beginning Monday, November 30 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
