Turkey Can Run
The Turkey Can Run is an annual 5K race held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2026, hosted by First Baptist Church Jefferson. The event is in its 18th year and benefits the FBC Jefferson Food Bank, which assists hundreds of families in Jackson County.
The race functions as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier and is described as the only Peachtree qualifier in Jackson County. It is noted as the largest 5K in the county, with over 1,300 registered runners in 2024. Organizers expect participant numbers to increase.
Entry requirements include an entry fee of $15 plus a donation of 15 canned food items. Race number and t-shirt pickup is available in advance in the church fellowship hall, and canned goods may be dropped off at the same time. Race day registration is not available.
Parking is not available in the church lots, which are reserved for participant distancing. Participants may use the front parking lot at Jefferson High School, 575 Washington St, within walking distance of the church; there will be no shuttle service. Receptacles for canned food donations will be provided in the high school parking lot. Bottled water will be available before and after the race.
An updated certified route map is provided by organizers. An awards ceremony takes place after the race; awards can be picked up at the church office, 76 Institute St, beginning Monday, November 30. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
