Lafayette Res Run for Education
The Lafayette Res Run for Education is a community running event presented by the Lafayette Chamber and the City of Lafayette. It includes multiple distances held in and around Downtown Lafayette and the Lafayette Reservoir. Proceeds benefit local public schools and the services and programs of the Chamber; the 2025 event brought together just under 2,200 participants and returned $37,611 to local schools.
The event offers certified road races for the timed courses and a virtual Reservoir Challenge that can be completed anywhere. The 5K and 10K courses are USATF certified with codes CA15004GAN (5K) and CA15003GAN (10K). Course notes: the 10K runs from Oak Hill Road to El Nido Ranch Road around the reservoir, while the 5K and the 2-mile course do not circle the reservoir. Safety rules note no dogs or baby strollers in the 5K, and the 10K allows dogs on leash and strollers but is not recommended for athletes with disabilities. There are three water stations along the courses and a Healthy Lifestyles Fair on Lafayette Circle near The Roundup Saloon, Roam, White Barn Home and Tutu's.
