The Lafayette Res Run for Education
The Lafayette Res Run for Education is an annual community event co-sponsored by the Lafayette Chamber and the City of Lafayette. Held in downtown Lafayette, California, the event supports local schools as well as Chamber programs and services. Participants can choose from several distances and participation methods:
- 5K: A traditional road race through downtown.
- 10K: A longer distance that includes the paved trail around the Lafayette Reservoir.
- 2 Mile: A shorter run or walk through the city streets.
- Reservoir Challenge: A virtual 2.4 mile option held on the Lafayette Reservoir paved trail.
The 10K course specifically utilizes the Lafayette Reservoir, which is closed to the public during that portion of the event. The virtual Reservoir Challenge allows participants to complete the 2.7 mile paved loop independently during the week leading up to the main race day.
The event accommodates various participant types, including sprinters, walkers, and individuals with strollers. Dogs are also permitted to participate. Registration fees do not include parking or additional local fees. Participants receive a race bib and a traditional long-sleeve t-shirt while supplies last.
The event serves as a fundraiser for local education, with proceeds distributed among several elementary, middle, and high schools in the area. Packet pickup is organized at the Lafayette Chamber Office in the days preceding the races, with a final pickup option available on the morning of the event.
