Lacing Up for Cancer Care 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk : Statesville, NC
The Lacing Up for Cancer Care 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk is a community running and walking event held in Downtown Statesville at 315 W. Broad St., Statesville, NC 28677. The event offers two distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Run/Walk (untimed)
Proceeds from the event benefit the Iredell Health Foundation Cancer Care & Patient Support Fund, which provides financial assistance to patients. Registration fees listed for the event are $35 for the 5K and $25 for the 1 Mile; higher fees apply on race day ($45 and $35 respectively). Official event T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by September 8, 2026.
The course routes run through downtown streets including West Broad Street, Walnut, Race Street, North Mulberry and other local roads. The 5K route and the 1 Mile route follow separate loops through the downtown area. Strollers are permitted on the course and pets are not allowed.
Packet pick-up is handled at the Iredell Health Foundation, 734 Hartness Rd., Statesville, with pickup occurring on the days immediately before the event. Medals are provided for 5K finishers; overall male and female winners are recognized, and 1st through 3rd place awards are given by male and female age group: Under 12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older.
