Labor Day 5K Sparta
The Labor Day 5K is an annual run and walk held on September 7, 2026, at Lake Mohawk Plaza in Sparta, New Jersey. The event is organized with support from the law firm Askin & Hooker, LLC and operates as a New Jersey non profit recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3). Its stated mission is to promote environmental stewardship and environmental education for the preservation of Sussex County’s natural resources, and the event supports organizations with a similar mission such as the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation.
Since the inaugural race in 2016 the event has raised more than $50,000 for the Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation. The course starts at the boardwalk entrance at Lake Mohawk and follows an out and back route that combines flat roads with small rolling hills. Runners pass lakefront homes along East Shore Drive and the course ends in front of Krogh’s. Ample parking is available and sponsors have a presence on site.
