Bighearted 5K
The Bighearted 5K takes place on October 11, 2026 in Denville, New Jersey. The event is organized by the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association (HCMA) to support education, advocacy, patient and family support, and research related to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and related thick heart muscle disorders.
Distances offered:
- 5K (3.1 miles) in-person run and untimed walk
- Virtual 5K (3.1 miles) run remotely
- 1 Mile Fun Run (1 mile) untimed
Registration opens March 30, 2026. Fees listed by the organizer include $35 for in-person 5K entries and $30 for the virtual 5K and the 1 mile fun run. Registration closing dates vary by event.
Fundraising incentives are available for participants who share personal fundraisers. Incentive levels include a $150 refund of the race registration fee, a $300 level that earns a thank-you sign along the route or a dedication sign (last day to qualify for this incentive is September 30, 2026), and a $750 level that includes a HCMA 5K sweatshirt. T-shirt orders are available only through September 30, 2026 and are not guaranteed afterward.
Packet pick-up details are provided: early pick-up at 3 Speedwell Ave, Morristown, NJ (Hyatt Regency) outside the Terrace Ballroom on October 10, and race day pick-up at 66 Ford Road, Denville, NJ. Parking is available in the business complex at 88 Ford Road and 66 Ford Road. Shuttle information is not yet available.
