KT82 Trail Relay
The KT82 Trail Relay is a point-to-point team race covering 82 miles through the Missouri countryside. The course begins in St. Louis County and travels primarily along the Katy Trail, passing through the historic towns of Augusta and Marthasville. The route concludes at Hermann City Park.
Participants navigate a total of 18 legs that feature varied terrain. While much of the course utilizes the Katy Trail, four specific legs consist of single-track running on Missouri Department of Conservation trails in St. Charles County. The landscape includes views of the Missouri River, bluffs, and regional vineyards.
Teams can participate in two main formats:
- 6-person team: Each runner completes 3 legs of the course.
- 3-person team: Each runner completes 6 legs for an ultra challenge.
The event includes several divisions based on gender composition, including Male (zero to two females), Female (six females), and Mixed (three to five females). These divisions are further categorized into Open and Masters groups.
The course legs vary in length to accommodate different team strategies:
- Shortest legs: 2.55 miles and 2.58 miles
- Longest legs: 7.56 miles and 7.24 miles
The event provides well-stocked transition zones for teams throughout the journey. Participants receive an event shirt, a finisher medal, and access to a post-race dinner in Hermann that includes wine or beer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
