Event Overview

The KROP - Kaizen Rite of Passage is a trail running event in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, taking place at Welling Ridge Trails. It is the second year of the event. Participants can choose from multiple distances.

Distances

The event includes several race distances:

  • 4 Miler
  • 8 Miler
  • 25k (16 miles)
  • 50k (32 miles)
  • 65k (40 miles) (described as a new distance)
  • Ruck Relay Team (each team member must register individually)

Course and Format

All races follow the same 4-mile loop course on single-track trails at Welling Ridge Trails. The course is described as rugged, scenic, and technical with roots and rocks. Each loop brings runners back to the start/finish area.

Unique Features

The event includes several unique challenges:

  • Extra Magic Mile: A bonus mile appears at a random time during the event; it does not count toward official race mileage.
  • Kaizen Rock of Passage: A challenge involving finding and carrying a large stone (around 60 lbs) to the finish line for a special prize. At least three stones will be hidden on the course. This challenge is for participants aged 18 and over.

Awards and Perks

All participants who complete at least one 4-mile loop receive a finisher's award. Special belt buckles are awarded for finishers of the 50k and 65k distances. The top three finishers in each distance receive gold, silver, or bronze variants of the finisher medal. In the Ruck Team Relay, teams compete over 10 hours for championship belts.

On-Site Amenities

The event features food and support at the start/finish area throughout the day, including breakfast items and hot food like burgers and hot dogs starting mid-morning. A fully stocked aid station is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
