KROP - Kaizen Rite of Passage
KROP is a multi-distance trail event at Welling Ridge Trails near Tahlequah, Oklahoma. All race distances use the same 4 mile loop and return to the start/finish area each lap, with food and support available at that location.
Distances offered:
- 4 miles
- 8 miles
- 16 miles (25k)
- 32 miles (50k)
- 40 miles (65k)
- Ruck relay team event, teams up to four people
The course is rocky, root‑twisted single track with roughly 400 feet of elevation gain per loop. Looping format brings participants back through the start/finish area every lap. The ruck relay requires teams to carry a 20 pound weighted ruck or vest; teammates may switch at any time and teams compete to cover the most full loops within the event window.
Awards and race features include a finisher award for completing one loop, belt buckles for 50k and 65k finishers, top three medals for each distance, and championship belts for ruck relay winners. Registration includes a shirt when registered by August 28, 2026 for guaranteed sizing. Additional donations at registration are donated in full to the Tahlequah Trails Association. Official chip timing is provided and photography is available at no extra charge.
Participants must pack out trash and treat others on course respectfully. The event proceeds in most weather; in life threatening conditions it may be moved to virtual or deferred and refunds are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
