About the race
The event is a community 5K held at Ashmun Bay Park / Ashmun Bay Boat Launch in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. The course runs from the boat launch onto the Ted Caffey Memorial Trail to South Street and back, and is described as 99% soft surface made up of gravel road and snowmobile trail. The route offers views of Ashmun Bay, passing freighters, the start of the power canal, the international bridge, and shoreline foliage. Participants receive a medal and post-race refreshments.
Finish-line provisions include water, Gatorade, bananas, watermelon, bags of chips, and fruit snacks. Chip timing is used with Race Result Duo transponders and a common start/finish timing mat. Onsite and online results are provided by Yooper Running Company. Awards are given to first place in age divisions spanning 0-9 through 80+, and overall awards are presented to Top Male, Top Female, Top Master (40+), and Top Grandmaster (60+).
An optional YRC T-shirt is available during online registration for an additional fee. Registration fees vary by period, with specified entry prices and a higher fee offered for late or race-day registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
