YRC Engineers Day 5K
The YRC Engineers Day 5K takes place on June 26, 2026 at Ashmun Bay Boat Launch in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. The event is part of Engineers Day Weekend and coincides with downtown celebrations at the Soo Locks on Friday, June 26.
The course runs from the Ashmun Bay Boat Launch along the Ted Caffey Memorial Trail to South Street and back. The route is 100% soft surface, composed of gravel road and snowmobile trail, with views of Ashmun Bay, freighters, the start of the power canal, the international bridge, and shoreline foliage.
Race day bib and packet pickup will be available near the boat launch parking area. An early packet pickup takes place on Thursday evening at Birdseye Outfitters. Each participant receives a medal, post-race refreshments, and the chance to win age group awards. Finish-line refreshments include water, Gatorade, bananas, watermelon, bags of chips, and fruit snacks.
Chip timing is used for scoring and results, with onsite and online results provided by Yooper Running Company using Race Result Duo transponders and a common timing mat. A YRC T-shirt option is available during online registration for an additional $15. Registration fees vary by date and include listed prices of $25, $30, $35, and a $40 race day fee.
Age group awards are given to 1st place in these divisions: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Overall awards are given to Top Male, Top Female, Top Master (40+), and Top Grandmaster (60+). Male course record: 16:02.91 (2024). Female course record: 20:20.02 (2024).
