Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K/10K
The Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K/10K is the sixteenth annual walk and run held on September 12, 2026, during National Suicide Prevention Week (September 11-19, 2026). The event takes place at Ariel Foundation Park in Mount Vernon, Ohio (10 Pittsburgh Ave, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, United States).
The event benefits the Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition, a volunteer-based, non-profit organization focused on reducing the rate of suicide in Knox County and connecting those at risk with resources and support. The coalition provides grief support, information on available resources, and referrals to community services. Funds raised will support education about common causes of suicidal behavior, recognition of warning signs, and how to help someone in crisis.
The event format includes both walking and running options and lists the following distances:
- 5K
- 10K
Additional activities include community and family-oriented elements such as children’s activities and provisions for strollers and dogs. A remembrance portion of the event includes lighting the tower and bridge and invitations for families and friends to bring a photo of a loved one to share. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers in each distance. The registration fee is listed as $35 for both distances through the event date. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
