Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K/10K
The Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K/10K is the sixteenth annual walk and run held on September 12 at Ariel Foundation Park in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The event occurs during National Suicide Prevention Week, September 11 to 19, 2026.
The format includes walking and running and welcomes walkers, runners, joggers, dogs, children’s activities, and strollers. Distances offered:
- 5K run or walk
- 10K run or walk
The event benefits the Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition, a volunteer based non-profit focused on reducing suicide in Knox County and connecting people at risk with resources. The coalition offers grief support, information on available resources, and referrals to community services. Funds raised support education about common causes of suicidal behavior, warning signs, and how to help someone in crisis.
The program includes a remembrance memorial and the lighting of the park tower and bridge. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers in each distance. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. The listed entry fee is $35. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
