Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K/10K
The Knox County Suicide Prevention 5K/10K is the sixteenth annual walk and run held at Ariel Foundation Park in Mount Vernon, Ohio during National Suicide Prevention Week (September 11–19, 2026). The event combines recreational walking and running with a remembrance component to raise awareness about suicide prevention.
The event benefits the Knox County Suicide Prevention Coalition, a volunteer-based nonprofit that works to reduce suicide in Knox County. The coalition provides grief support, information about local resources, and referrals to community services. Funds raised support education on common causes of suicidal behavior, warning signs, and how to help someone in crisis.
Event features include:
- 5K run and walk
- 10K run and walk
The format accommodates walkers, runners, strollers, dogs, and children's activities. A remembrance memorial will include lighting of the park tower and bridge, and the organizer welcomes photographs of loved ones to be shared during the memorial. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers in each distance.
Registration cost is listed as $35. Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. The event location is Ariel Foundation Park, 10 Pittsburgh Ave, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
