Kiwanis Independence 5K - Charlottesville
The event offers a community 5K run and walk with an additional virtual 5K option. It is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville and organized around the Lakeside and Hollymead school areas in Charlottesville, Virginia, at 2801 Powell Creek Drive.
Proceeds benefit local organizations including Salvation Army Camp Rappahannock, Central Little League, and Charlottesville Community Bikes. The event notes that more than $150,000 has been raised for charity over the past 42 years.
Registration fees are listed for each option, with the in person 5K at $35.00 and the virtual 5K at $30.00. Packet pickup is available on July 3 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Lakeside Middle School, and there is additional packet pickup on race morning from 6:30 AM.
The on course route begins and finishes at Hollymead Elementary School. The route follows Powell Creek Drive, Shadybrook Trail, Turnberry Circle, a short trail to N English Oaks Circle, English Oaks Circle, Kendalwood Lane, and Ashwood Boulevard before returning on Powell Creek Drive to the finish at Hollymead Elementary School.
