Event overview
Kirkhill 8 is a timed trail event on 23 May 2026 at Kirkhill Forest (57°12'45.5"N 2°14'15.7"W). The course is a single loop of 4.3 miles, run repeatedly over an 8 hour period. Entrants choose how many laps to complete; suggested target distances include:
- 20 miles
- 26.2 miles
- 50 km
- 40 miles
- 50 miles
Entry is limited to a total field of 100. The event is pre-entry only, with a closing date for entries on 30 April 2026. A waiting list will operate once entry is full, and race number swaps are allowed up to the closing date. Runners must be 18 years or older on race day.
Rules, kit and logistics
The event is cupless; water will be provided at a designated water station and marshals can fill runners' own bottles or cups. A drop/kit bag facility and toilets will be available in the start/finish area. External support, support runners and pacers are not allowed during the race.
Minimum mandatory kit must be carried for the entire event and may be checked. Required items include:
- waterproof full body cover (jacket and trousers)
- hat
- gloves
- whistle
- foil blanket
Additional rules: no running poles, no dogs accompanying runners, no littering, and no person may run using another runner's number. Entry prices are shown as £41 (discounted) and £43 (standard) with a service fee of 4% (minimum 50p). The event is LGBT and QIA+ friendly; entrants may register as female, male or nonbinary.
