Mike Walsh Memorial 5K Run/Walk
The Mike Walsh Memorial 5K Run/Walk is an annual event in Bement, Illinois, held at 201 S. Champaign Street on December 12, 2026. The event is scheduled each year on the second Saturday in December and includes both in-person and a virtual participation option.

Registration opens August 26, 2026 and closes November 30, 2026. The registration fee for each event option is $20.00. Virtual participants may submit their times.
The event is presented in memory of Mike Walsh and supports Bement High School athletic programs and student scholarships. Past contributions from the event have funded new girls’ basketball uniforms, new bleachers at the football field, a new sound system for the big gym, and 11 Chromebooks for students. The scholarship 5K has helped 13 student athletes continue their sports careers at the college of their choice. Organizers are exploring the purchase of new shot clocks for Walsh Gymnasium for the 2026 basketball season. The school also hosts a Mike Walsh Memorial basketball tournament each December.
