Kipsongo Project 15th Annual 5K Run/Walk
The Kipsongo Project 5K is the 15th annual run and walk held to benefit The Kipsongo Project, a 501 c3 non-profit based in Kipsongo Slum in Kenya. The event takes place on June 27, 2026 at Lapham Peak in Delafield, Wisconsin. The distance offered is 5K.
Funds raised support the Project's ongoing programs in Kipsongo Slum. These programs include children's education at primary, secondary, and college levels; adults' education such as computer and seamstress classes; microfinance for small business development; solar powered irrigation for farming; dairy and poultry projects; and a children's nutrition program that provides three nutritious meals a day to enrolled children. Health initiatives include preventive measures like distributing water filters and bed nets and providing health insurance to employees, plus curative support for unexpected medical expenses. A demonstration garden teaches bio-intensive farming techniques.
On-site activities at the event include sale of jewelry and homeware items made by women in Kipsongo, an auction, and snacks. All proceeds from the event go directly to The Kipsongo Project. The race began as one of the project's early fundraisers and continues as an annual benefit that supports the community's education, health, and economic programs.
