Kinzua Half Marathon & 5K
The event takes place in and around Mount Jewett in the Allegheny National Forest, an area noted for hiking, boating, swimming and biking. The schedule spans two days and includes three entry options:
- 13.1 Miles - Kinzua Half Marathon
- 5K - Kinzua 5K
- 16.2 Miles - Tornado Double (both events)
All race entries include a performance shirt, commemorative finisher medal, personalized bib, and free race photos. Both the half marathon and the 5K use disposable bib chip timing with live online results. Course time limits are specified: the half marathon has a 4 hour limit (about 18 minutes per mile) and the 5K has a 1.5 hour limit (about 14:30 per mile). Half marathon aid stations are located at miles 4, 7, and 10.5; the 5K has a water station prior to the turnaround. Portable restrooms will be available near the start and finish area, and aid stations will provide refreshments and first aid kits.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers in Open and Masters, plus top three finishers in specified age groups for each race. Registration fees and donations support the Mt. Jewett to Kinzua Bridge Trail Club to aid development of the Knox to Kane trail. Packet pickup is at the MJ2KB Trail Club Office, 48 W Main St, Mt Jewett, PA. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
