King of The Hill at Sunken Meadow State Park
King of The Hill is a looped hill race held on March 7, 2026, at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, NY 11754. The event is offered in two formats: a three hour competition and a one hour competition.
The course is an approximately 1.4 mile loop that goes up Cardiac, through Picnic, and up Snake. Participants complete repeated laps of this loop; the King and Queen of the Hill are the participants who cover the most distance during the three hour event. The Prince and Princess titles are awarded in the one hour event.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday March 6 at Smithtown Running Company. Race packets are also available on race morning at the park starting at 7:45am. The start and finish line will be located by the parking lot rather than the pavilion on the hill, per a request from park rangers.
Event logistics include a race giveaway kit with the race logo; the three hour participants receive a warmup cooldown kit when available and registrants were not guaranteed a kit as of 2/25/25. Every participant is automatically entered into a raffle, and the first 50 entrants are included in an exclusive raffle for a pair of running sneakers.
